You'reou're in for a relaxing vacation in La Porte (population 23). La Porte is an old gold mining town first settled in 1851 by 49ers prospecting for gold. In it's heyday, La Porte had a bustling population of about 900 with 7 saloons, 3 hotels, 2 theaters, breweries and a large Chinese section in the vicinity of the China Alley of today. Now La Porte is a sleepy village with a saloon, post office, deli/mini mart museum and of course, our China Alley cabins.
